Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium Symposium, Herders’ March & Pastoralism
A unique evening marking the arrival of the Belgian section of the European Herders’ March
Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium is organising its annual symposium on 13 October 2026 at Chalet Robinson (Bois de la Cambre, Brussels).
This year, the event will have a very special dimension: it will mark the arrival of the Belgian section of the European Herders’ March. From 28 September to 13 October, Belgian herders Toon and Johan Schouteden will cross Belgium with a flock of 300 sheep, travelling from Achelse Kluis to Brussels. Together with their partners*, they aim to deliver a strong message in support of pastoralists, rangelands and extensive livestock keeping.
At our invitation, Loupa Pius, a pastoralist from Karamoja (Uganda), will join the march to connect the Belgian story with pastoral realities around the world.
Free in-person event – open to everyone
*The European Herders’ March in Belgium is an initiative of Agentschap Natuur en Bos, Animal Welfare Solutions, Boerenbond, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium, Steunpunt Levend Erfgoed, Vlaamse Schapenhouderij and vzw De Herder.
