7th symposium of the Ghent Africa Platform – GAPSYM7

Africa and Food: challenges, risks and opportunities

Ghent University – December 6th 2013

Provinciehuis - Gouvernementstraat 1 - 9000 Gent

***Call for papers is closed now - poster presentations can still be submitted***

On Friday the 6th of December 2013, the 7th symposium of the Ghent Africa Platform will take place at our university (venue: Provinciehuis, Gouvernementstraat 1, 9000 Gent). The central theme will be " Africa and Food: challenges, risks and opportunities". At this stage, we have received a lot of abstracts for this symposium, which means that our symposium will be turned into an international conference; it will no longer solely be the forum for the expertise at the Association Ghent University, as was the case in earlier editions.

However, at this symposium we do want to give Africa researchers from the Association Ghent University the opportunity to present their Africa-related research by means of a poster. Importantly, the topics of these posters can be different from the main theme of the symposium. The idea is really to provide an overview of all Africa-related research taking place at the Association Ghent University.

Can we please remind you of this possibility to present your research at our symposium? In order to participate, you can send an abstract of the poster to our GAP secretariat: , no later than 4 November 2013. The posters (A0 format) should be delivered to the GAP secretariat, Dominique Godfroid, Campus UZ – ICRH – K4, 6th Floor, De Pintelaan 185, 9000 Gent.

This message could be interesting for some of your junior researchers (who might already be a member of the Africa Platform, or who would like to become a member in the near future), so may we encourage you to forward this message?
